The design caters to the needs of a modern joint family of three generations. The building had to align with vaastu norms and yet be modern in appeal. The architectural vocabulary effortlessly integrates the principles of modernism with traditional responses to a particular, local geography and climate. The house is conceptualized keeping three words in mind – elegance, sophistication and simplicity. Its highlight is the continuity of spaces – from nature, to built- up structure and back to nature. There is a play of volume, form, light to create airy, open, naturally lit and ventilated spaces. The ground floor accommodates a large living room opening out onto a patio and garden, a double height dining area, kitchen, bedrooms and drawing room. The upper floor includes two bedrooms and a family room. Glass is used in plenty to enhance the transparency between the interiors and the lush green exterior landscape. The semi – covered open spaces allows one to enjoy the interface between the exterior and interior. Apart from focus on intensive landscaping and green cover, the house was visualized as a matrix of connected space. The dominant concept is a modern structure with straight lines enhanced by a combination of intricacy in wood and stone. Dhrangadhara Stone cladding provides bold character to the building facade. Large windows bring in natural light to allow rich, surrounding views. A retractable ceiling of the area gives a clear view of the sky. The interiors have been crafted keeping in mind a combination of the modern with the comfortable, to give the owners a home that they are proud of. The spaces are uninterrupted, open and uncluttered.
